Is my release a Single, EP, or Album?
Artists do not need to input “Single", "EP" or "Album” in their release title because DSPs automatically categorize a release by run time and amount of songs.
Single - up to 3 songs
EP - 4-6 songs
Album - 7+ songs
For Apple Music
A single is a type of release that contains
1 to
3 songs that are less than
10 minutes each. It is typically a song that is released separately from an album though an artist can sometimes include it in an album release or not.
An
EP must meet
one of the following two requirements:
- 1 to 3 songs with one song at least 10 minutes long and a total running time of 30 minutes or less
- 4 to 6 songs with a total running time of 30 minutes or less
NOTE: If your release meets the above requirements and you do not have "EP" in the title of your album, iTunes will automatically insert "EP" in the title when delivering your album to the store.
For Spotify
Anything less than the category below would be considered a single.
Your music will be classified under the EP category if:
- The release is under 30 minutes.
- The release has 4-6 tracks.
Spotify will not change the title of your release.
Anything exceeding these points will be considered an
Album among all DSPs (Digital Streaming Platforms).
We currently accept audio files in the following formats:
